Observer/cover positions added to Conducting Mozart and Singing Mozart Opera

Due to the overwhelming response and a very long wait list for the Conducting/Singing Mozart Opera workshops this summer, we will be adding observer/cover positions for each session.

The two sessions are as follows:
July 23 – August 4          Le Nozze di Figaro
July 30 – August 11        Così fan tutte

Figaro: Saturday, August 4
Così: Saturday, August 11

For Conductors:

Cost: $750

What you get: Italian class and observation of all coaching/staging/orchestra rehearsal sessions.

Join us for a unique course, focusing exclusively on the challenging craft of opera conducting.  Conductors and pianists will be invited to participate in this one-of-a-kind experience.  Working with an internationally renowned faculty, led by Mark Gibson, Director of Orchestral Studies at CCM and Arthur Fagen, internationally renowned opera conductor, students will have daily Italian instruction, text and style sessions and conducting and coaching masterclasses.  Students will also participate in staging rehearsals, work with singers and lead orchestra rehearsals, culminating in concert performances of excerpts from two of Mozart’s greatest works, performed either in the acoustically perfect Corbett Auditorium or all’aperto in the piazza of the CCM Village (weather permitting).

For Singers:

Cost: $250 major roles; $150 minor roles

What you get: Italian class and observation of all coaching/staging sessions.

Cover/observer positions for singers are only open to those who applied by the March 5 deadline, and are by invitation only.

We are thrilled to announce an exclusive opportunity to participate in Singing Mozart, two 2-week intensive sessions devoted to the art of singing Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro and Così fan tutte.  Students will work with an internationally renowned faculty led by Mark Gibson and including Arthur Fagen (Indiana University Jacobs School of Music), David Adams (CCM), Ben Smith (Seattle Opera; CCM Spoleto; Baldwin Wallace College) and Ken Weiss (Washington National Opera; CCM Spoleto).

Daily schedule is as follows:

  • 9 – noon: Italian
  • lunch break
  • 1:00 – 3:00 – work session 1 (group setting with various assisting maestros/teachers)
  • 3:30 – 5:30 – work session 2 (group setting with various assisting maestros/teachers)
  • 7:00 – 10:00 – staging rehearsals with singers
  • you will start orchestra rehearsals at the end of week 2; Thursday and Friday
